The Mount Union Alliance Chorale will present “Roses, Rivers and Rhymes” on Sunday May 5 at 3 p.m. in Brush Performance Hall in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts on the University of Mount Union campus.
The 75-voice chorale is comprised of Mount Union faculty members and students and residents from the surrounding communities.
The chorale’s director is Jane Page and Nancy Howenstine is the accompanist and collaborative artist for the group.
The program will include Mozart’s “Placido e il mar,” “A Lonely Boat Drifts Slowly” by Robert Schumann Aaron Copland’s “The Boatmen’s Dance,” “Shenandoah” by Mack Wilberg and John Rutter’s “Down by the Riverside” among many other outstanding works. The Chorale will close with a traditional American melody by Wilberg, “Down To the River to Pray.” Soloists are Debbie Garlock and Martin Horning.
Guest instrumentalists are Robert Barnett, percussion; Lori Burse, French horn; Betty Schultz, oboe; Brianna Searing, flute and Lindsey Nicholson, string bass.
The Mount Union Alliance Chorale founded by Bill Bowman and other community members has been performing since 1983 and presents two concerts each year.
Tickets are $8 for general public and can be purchased at the University of Mount Union box office. Mount Union faulty and all students are free as are children.
