Why Mount Union

My father is an alumnus of the University, and I was reintroduced when I was recruited to play basketball here. I chose to come to Mount Union because of the small classroom sizes and incredible family-like atmosphere of the campus. I love being able to walk around campus and interact with all of the familiar people.

An Equal Balance

What I like most about Mount is the equal balance of academics, sports, and social activities offered. My professors are always willing and able to assist me in the classroom. I'm also able to play basketball here at Mount and still have time to be social with friends and create memories that will last a lifetime.

An Exceptional School

Mount Union stands out from other colleges and universities because of its strive to be exceptional. Not only do we strive to be the best when it comes to sports, but also in the classroom.

Why Early Childhood?

I chose Early Childhood Education as my major because I believe every child should have a strong educational foundation to build upon, regardless of arbitrary factors that may be seen as societal barriers. I love being able to observe actual classroom settings in different elementary schools and assist within those classrooms. These experiences go beyond any lecture or case study you could read.

A Well-Rounded Individual

A liberal arts education allows me to become a well-rounded, diverse individual, which will help me in all aspects of my professional career. It also allows for a more diverse awareness/sensitivity to other areas of study, which is something that everyone can benefit from.

Future Elementary School Teacher

My ultimate career goal is to become an elementary school teacher in an urban area. I want to be able to have an impact on students who are considered marginalized due to arbitrary factors. My mission is to create a strong educational foundation all of my students can build upon to become successful. I believe that all children have the ability to learn, no matter the setbacks they may encounter in life. Classes such as Multicultural Education, ISP, and Planning for Diverse learners have all opened my eyes to this phenomenon. I plan to use the pedagogical techniques and knowledge I've learned within these classes to benefit me within my own classroom.
