Choosing Mount Union

My family has always had a deep love for Mount Union. My father attended Mount Union and proudly graduated in 1987, and his experience there left a lasting impression on our family. His stories, memories, and continued connection to the university have inspired a strong sense of pride and admiration for the school that continues to this day. Mount Union has given me incredible classroom experiences that have helped me grow both personally and professionally as a future educator. Through early field placements and student teaching opportunities, I’ve had the chance to work directly with students in real classroom settings, observing, assisting, and even teaching lessons. These hands-on experiences have allowed me to apply what I’ve learned in my education courses, build confidence in classroom management, and develop meaningful relationships with both students and mentor teachers.

A Passion to Teach

My ultimate career goal is to become a dedicated and inspiring educator who makes a lasting impact on students' lives. I want to create a classroom environment where every student feels seen, supported, and motivated to reach their full potential. I chose to become an education major because I’ve always had a passion for helping others learn and grow. There's something incredibly rewarding about seeing that moment when a concept finally clicks for a student. Growing up, I had teachers who made a lasting impact on my life, not just by teaching me content, but by believing in me and encouraging me to reach my potential. I want to be that kind of teacher for future students: someone who makes learning meaningful, builds confidence, and creates a classroom where every student feels valued. Education gives me the opportunity to make a real difference every day, and that’s what drives me.

Overcoming Obstacles in College

The Office of Financial Aid has helped me overcome many obstacles. This office has played a crucial role in helping me overcome financial challenges while pursuing my education at Mount Union. Through scholarships, grants, and other forms of support, I’ve been able to focus more on my studies and less on the stress of how to afford college. The financial aid office was incredibly helpful and understanding, they guided me through the process, answered all my questions, and made sure I was aware of every opportunity available to me. Thanks to their support, I’ve been able to stay on track academically and continue working toward my dream of becoming a teacher without being overwhelmed by financial burdens.
