About the Conference

What might engineering become in the next three quarters of this century and how should engineering education lead the imminent changes?

Austenite to Martensite; Cartesian to Polar; Caterpillar to Chrysalis; Transformations are at the heart of Nature and Engineering. Governed by external stimuli, but mediated by careful planning, engineers bridge nature with utility. Bring your perspectives on how this work can be transformative in the wake of a rapidly changing world. What might engineering become in the next three quarters of this century? Who are the stakeholders? How may you steer this change? How should, or should not, engineering education lead the imminent changes?

 

The ASEE North Central Section (NCS) invites workshop proposals, short and full-length papers, as well as student posters. Topics related to the broad conference theme and to the following are encouraged:

  • Innovative curricula or teaching techniques.
  • Implementation of smart technologies in classrooms.
  • Active learning: project-based and hands-on learning activities.
  • Incorporating Sustainability into Engineering.
  • Examining and Engaging Artificial Intelligence in Engineering Education.
  • Senior capstone projects, student research projects, and industry experiences.
  • Recruitment, Retention, and Persistence of Engineering students.
  • Expanding Opportunities, Broadening Participation, and Mentoring Talent.
  • Remote, Distance, Hybrid learning: methods, technologies, and assessment.
  • Social Justice and Peace in Engineering.
  • Community engagement, service learning, K-12 outreach with engineering.
  • Global engagement (e.g., study abroad programs, academic partnerships).
  • Societal Impact of Engineering Practice.

  • Registration and Pricing

    The conference fee includes access to all networking and technical sessions during the two-day event, including the welcome and networking reception with appetizers on Friday evening, as well as all sessions, light continental breakfast, conference lunch and awards dinner on Saturday.
