A Job that is a Passion

I am the principal at Saint Martin de Porres High School. I like to tell our students my job is to ensure that they graduate ready for college, regardless of when they decide to pursue it. I oversee all our academic programming with our students as well as our faculty including their professional development, coaching, and evaluation, as well as manage our college counseling, wellness, and academic counseling teams. Saint Martin, as a member of the Cristo Rey Network, is unique in Cleveland in that we provide a work-study experience for all our students starting in ninth grade. This means we're supporting students for success not only in college but also in professional work environments across the greater Cleveland area one day a week.

Excelling as a Purple Raider

I appreciate the emphasis on the application of our coursework because it enhances the skillset of students in the program. The professors in the education graduate program at Mount Union are great and I feel challenged to grow as the leader of our school. As the principal of my school, I've been able to apply every concept learned from course assignments to the practices we use at St. Martin de Porres.

Inspiring Lives

I want to continue working with students in a school setting and I'm confident what I'm learning and doing as part of the Mount Union School Leadership Program will help prepare me to be the best school leader I can be. The professors and program as a whole help identify and discuss long-term applications and career opportunities with students. With the Master of Education degree from Mount Union, I will be able to continue helping students prepare to pursue their dreams after high school.
