Favorite Memory from Mount Union
Mount made me who I am today; not just from a student perspective. After graduation, I worked in the admission office and the staff there helped guide me into the career field that I am currently working in. Without UMU, I know for sure I wouldn't be the person I am today, both professionally and personally. As a student I held internships with the Stark County Juvenile Probation Office and with Congressman John Boccieri, and was a member of Blue Key National Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha, Alpha Mu Gamma, and FCA. Collaborating with diverse individuals - from other students to distinct professors, helped me refine my self-awareness and networking abilities. These experiences have equipped me with the skills to thrive in today's dynamic and collaborative environment.
A Career as a Guidance Counselor
As a school counselor, I provide comprehensive support to students, addressing their academic, social, and emotional needs. This includes individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and classroom guidance. School counselors also assist with college and career planning, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and community resources to create a positive school environment. I love the one-on-one relationships I get to form with my students. I truly enjoy helping prepare them for life, college, and career. I also love the team of staff I get to work with each day! I wouldn't say I have one single goal. I would say I want students to feel like they were supported, cared for, and truly valued as a student here at AHS.
Staying Connected to Mount Union
Being a school counselor at AHS has given me a great opportunity to stay plugged in at UMU through their admission, academic, and athletic offices. I feel very blessed that I get to work with my alma mater each and every school year!
