Assistant Band Director and General Music Teacher

Mount Union provided many opportunities for me to challenge myself as a musician and a person in all the ensembles and classes that are offered.

Education

B.M. Music Education

Location

Geneva, OH

I currently work as a marching band assistant director at Geneva High School in Ohio, and a middle school general music teacher at Geneva Middle School.

Why I Chose Mount Union

Mount Union felt like home as soon as I walked on campus. The music and theatre faculty are welcoming to students and worked so well together that participation in multiple ensembles/shows was possible.

Mount Union Opportunities

Having the opportunity to join steel band at Mount Union ignited a passion for world music that I plan to integrate into my general music classes. The theatre program also prepared me to help run any middle or high school theatre program that I may encounter.

Staying Connected

I still have friends and professors that I keep contact with. Mount Union is a great place for a small community to foster, and I can attest to the small community that is the music and theatre building.

Why I love Mount Union

Mount Union provided many opportunities for me to challenge myself as a musician and a person in all the ensembles and classes that are offered. I’ve made great friendships here, which makes me feel I’ve picked the best place to earn my undergraduate degree.

The Best Part of My Job

I love that I’m able to work with the marching band here in Geneva. This is going on marching season #9 for me, and I love the sport more every year! My kiddos bring their best attitude every day and work so hard to be better musicians and marchers.

Future Goals

I would love to start a guitar program one day, as I feel it catches the kids that don’t gel with band or choir. Music education is so important for students, especially in the middle school years.
