Hands-On Opportunity

Already I've learned to look at data with a new perspective, seeking trends and outliers that I never would have considered before. My Ethical and Moral Foundations course has challenged me to take a deep dive into my own morals and consider how that would affect my role as a leader. Getting to sharpen my skills, learn new material, and dialogue with other educators has been everything I needed to continue to serve my students and their families. I would recommend this program because of how intentional it is to make earning a masters degree attainable for the working educator. The way the courses and semesters are designed, the curriculum, the workload, projects, and other deliverables are all engaging, yet doable

Influential Career

This is my 9th year as a high school intervention specialist. I did not take the traditional route into education and I can remember feeling extremely lost and overwhelmed my first few years in this role. Fortunately, there was a veteran intervention specialist in my first school who took me under her wing and gave me tips and tricks to navigate the education system as an intervention specialist. Without her leadership, I may not have continued in this career. My desire is to grow to be the type of leader that she was for me. Most recently I took the School Law course and I have found myself being more intentional about the decisions I make and how I hold my students accountable for their actions.

Why Mount Union?

I chose Mount Union specifically because of how the semesters are laid out. Focusing on one course at a time felt realistic to me. I wanted to be able to give my all into my graduate career, and knowing that I wouldn't be completely overwhelmed with the workload convinced me to choose Mount Union. This program has honestly renewed a passion for me. I was beginning to feel a little stuck, for the lack of a better word, but participating in this program has lit a fire in me to continue working in my career.
