Overcoming Obstacles in College
Being afraid. I had to let go of my fears because I am not alone and people at Mount are willing to help and support me, and no one judges you for getting help, seeking and using your resources; staff and students are beyond understanding.
Advice to Incoming Students
The advice I'd give to prospective students is to apply to every college. Don’t limit yourself to only be accepted by one institution; go visit as many campuses as you can until you find the one you can’t stop talking about. When I visited Mount, I had already committed somewhere else, but a track coach at Mount reached out to me, and I came to visit, and fell in love with the campus. Mount Union is the reason why my track career has continued past high school.
Why Education?
I chose education as my major to help people. I want to be a compassionate influence in others lives and be someone students can come to and feel safe with. I also want to be someone people remember long term thanks to the impact I had on them.
