Excercise and People
I chose the profession of physical therapy because it met all my areas of interest. I have always been fascinated with the body and how it functions, enjoy exercise and being active, and enjoy people. In this profession it allows me to be directly involved in all of these areas. Also, in this profession there are many different options of settings that you can work in.
The Art of Caring
The American Physical Therapy Association had a slogan that read, "The Science of Healing. The Art of Caring." I love being able to be part of a students learning journey of the science of the physical therapy profession and sharing my experience as a physical therapist. It is rewarding watching them implement the art of caring with their educational foundation. I really enjoy watching the transformation from student to clinician and knowing how many people they are going to help.
Naturally Welcoming Environment
The environment at Mount Union has always felt naturally welcoming from the students to staff. Initially, I was an adjunct faculty member and I appreciated the support that was offered from colleagues. I also wanted to teach at Mount Union because of the resources and equipment they have available.
