I learned about the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) from a para-coach. I visited Mount Union and fell in love with the campus and the sense of belonging. Once admitted and met and interacted with the members of the swim team, I realized that they make Mount feel like a second home.
Mount Union Family
The support I receive from my teammates and my coaches is immense! My coaches have pushed me in the pool and out of it. They support my paraswim goals and dreams, and are the reason I am pursuing a future in para-athletics. My advice to high school students is, find the people who make you feel like home at whatever school you go to. Being a para-athlete here at Mount is a lot of fun. I get to swim with my teammates, but I also get to go to my own meets, too. In short, it's a lot of races! Although the biggest obstacle I have had to face would be my own mental struggle. I kept thinking I would not be good enough to make it, yet here I am now!
After Mount Union
After graduating from Mount Union my career goal is to obtain a job in marketing, in the retail industry. Mount Union has helped me by letting me carry out managerial projects that allow me be in the shoes of a manger trying to promote themselves. The classes I’ve taken throughout my time at Mount have helped me understand the markets and how to promote oneself and their own business.
