Candidates must hold a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing to be eligible to apply for enrollment in the Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate Program. This postgraduate certificate is ideal for nurses seeking FNP credentials without enrolling in another full degree program.

Online FNP Certificate Admission Requirements

The online FNP Certificate program prepares nurses for the family nurse practitioner (FNP) role, caring for patients across the lifespan. Graduates obtain educational eligibility for national board certification as a family nurse practitioner (FNP).

Applicants must complete an application via the Nursing Central Application Service (CAS). Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Post-Graduate APRN Certificate—Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Admission Requirements

  1. Completed a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited program. Official transcripts of all academic work from each college or institution of higher learning attended.
  2. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) from MSN program.
  3. A curriculum vita (CV) or resume.
  4. A statement of intent outlining the following: 1) qualifications and 2) rationale for applying to the program.
  5. Verification of a current, unencumbered RN license in the state in which you practice AND a permanent residence in an approved state.  Applicants who are already an APRN must also possess a current, unrestricted APRN license and specialty certification.
    • Students must complete the practicum requirements in their state of residence/license and intent to obtain initial APRN licensure in that state.  Students are responsible for understanding the requirements to pursue licensure in their state.
  6. At least 1,000 clinical hours of professional experience as a Registered Nurse.
  7. Interview at the discretion of the FNP program coordinator.
