Sports Media Curriculum
Along with core courses in media and sport business, specialized courses for the sport media major cover a variety of topics.
- MDA 155: Sport Media Foundations – This introductory course will provide students with a broad understanding of the sports media industry, including its history, key figures, and the various roles within the field.
- MDA 236: Sport Media Production – Building on the foundation course, MDA 236 will dive deeper into the technical and creative aspects of sports media production. Students will gain hands-on experience in areas such as video production, live broadcasting, and content creation, skills that are critical for sports media professionals.
- MDA 275: Sport Journalism in the Digital Age – As digital platforms continue to shape the way sports news is consumed, this course focuses on the evolving role of journalism in the sports industry.
- MDA 397: Fan Engagement and Experience – This course explores the strategies, platforms, and practices used to engage sport fans and create memorable, loyalty-building experiences across digital and live event environments.
- MDA 470: Sport Media Research and Analysis – This capstone course will allow students to apply their theoretical knowledge through research projects that analyze sports media trends, audience behavior, and the impact of media coverage on sports.
