My favorite thing about Mount Union is that it gave me three life long friends. My favorite memory is all four of us going to almost every Raider Programming Board (RPB) event during the week and off campus events. It set the standard for fun in our friendship and we still go out and have adventures/take trips together often. I'm forever grateful to have met them through UMU!

Why Mount Union?

I chose Mount Union because it was close to home and I was used to small class sizes. When I visited, I loved the one-on-one attention from professors students were receiving. On top of that, the campus was beautiful and the sense of community was amazing. Joining the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) my freshman year was the best decision I could’ve made for my career; I served as secretary/tresurer my sophomore year and president my junior year. These leadership roles taught me about responsibility, expanded my networking skills and ways to find career opportunities in the future by allowing me to attend professional networking lunches, conferences, and industry award shows.

Life after Mount Union?

I was lucky enough to receive an internship through a guest PRSSA speaker. I also learned about my current job at PR Newswire years prior through two PRSSA guest speakers, one who is my colleague and the other is now the Director of my department! As a Content Specialist at PR Newswire, I help proofread hundreds of press releases a month and counsel clients on editorial best practices, SEO best practices, and reviewing their copy for grammar, consistency, and formatting. Since I started in 2019, I have been a corporate colleague to a number of new specialists, an industry ambassdor who monitors/indentifies trends in order to curate content, and hosted best content workshops with current clients. What I like most about my current job is that everyday ushers in new exciting stories and challenges. No day in my four years has been the same.
