Why Become a Physical Therapist?

I have always had a passion for helping people. I love that as a physical therapist you get to see some of the same patients week after week and watch them progress and get back to their normal lives. Knowing that I played a vital role in that journey is very fulfilling to me. I chose Mount Union's DPT program because the student-to-faculty relationship was like no other. All of the students and faculty seemed like they have known each other forever. I could tell that all of the faculty truly care and want their students to succeed.

Career Readiness

I took a gap year before starting DPT school, and decided to travel to Europe for 2 months. If anyone is on the fence about taking a gap year, do not be afraid to do it and go out and see the world and all it has to offer. But I currently work as a fitness specialist at University Hospitals. As a fitness specialist, I have been given the opportunity to work with patients one-on-one and prescribe different exercise programs that are personalized for them. Being in a position where I am working with many different patients has definitely improved my time management and communication skills. These skills will help me throughout the next three years at Mount Union and for the rest of my career as a physical therapist.
