Community Events Scheduled for the 20th Anniversary of September 11

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Alliance community is coming together to participate in a day of events coinciding with the National Day of Service and Remembrance, recognizing the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001. 

The schedule of events on Saturday, September 11 will include a ceremony at Silver Park at 9 a.m., service projects throughout the community from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and a brunch for veterans and first responders at 10:30 a.m.

The ceremony is free and open to the public and will take place at the Silver Park 9/11 memorial. It will include musical performances, prayers and a video created by Carnation Cable Channel 1022 featuring the Veterans Banner Project.

The service projects are open to the public with registration required. Service sites will include agencies throughout the Alliance area. The brunch is being sponsored by the Alliance Rotary Club, Burgess Insurance Group, Cassaday-Turkle Christian Funeral and Cremation Service and the University of Mount Union’s Regula Center for Public Service.

The events are being coordinated by the Regula Center in collaboration with the City of Alliance, the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce and a citizen’s committee.
