Fulbright Scholar Hosted by Mount Union Authors Piece on Parenting and Coronavirus

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Dr. Wenhua Yan, professor and researcher in the School of Psychology and Cognitive Science at East China Normal University and visiting Fulbright Scholar at the University of Mount Union for the spring 2020 semester, authored a piece for parents with children in school overseas during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic for the Chinese press.

In the piece, Yan, who has over 20 years of research and practice experience in the field, with a focus on cross-cultural psychology and counseling, discusses her time at Mount Union and how the institution handled communication to the campus community, as well as how it is still accommodating those who are still on campus.

Yan used detailed information to tell readers how UMU dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic effectively. She also discussed how parents with children in USA universities could reduce their anxiety and worry. The story was viewed more than 200,000 times in the first week of its release.
