Holiday Shutdown 2025-2026
December 09, 2025The University of Mount Union will conduct its annual holiday shutdown from Monday, December 23, 2024, through Wednesday, January 1, 2025. The Holiday shutdown schedule is set as follows:
Holiday Period:
- Wednesday, December 24, 2025 | All offices closed
- Thursday, December 25, 2025 | All offices closed
- Friday, December 26, 2025 | Shut down in place; skeleton staff on site
- Monday, December 29, 2025 | Shut down in place; skeleton staff on site
- Tuesday, December 30, 2025 | Shut down in place; skeleton staff on site
- Wednesday, December 31, 2025 | All offices closed.
- Wednesday, January 1, 2026 | All offices closed
- Thursday, January 2, 2026 | Shut down in place; skeleton staff on site
All University offices will open at 8 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026.
MAAC Hours
- Friday, December 12, 2025; 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Saturday, December 13, 2025: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Sunday, December 14, 2025: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Monday, December 15 – Friday, December 19, 2025: 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Saturday, December 20, 2025 – Sunday, January 4, 2026: Closed
- Monday, January 5 — January 9, 2026; 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Saturday, January 10, 2026: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
- Sunday, January 11, 2026: 3 - 9 p.m.
Normal business hours in the MAAC will resume on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Security
Library
The Library will be closed during the holiday break from Wednesday, December 24, 2025, through January 2, 2026. The library will be open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. from January 5 – 9, 2025. Normal business hours will resume on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Switchboard
The University switchboard and Information Desk, located in the Hoover-Price Campus Center, will not be staffed after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. During that time, a recorded message will inform callers that the University of Mount Union is closed, and callers will be given a menu of offices that they can choose to be transferred to which will include Campus Security in the event of an emergency.
The switchboard will then resume operations on Monday, January 5, 2026, and will serve the University during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the rest of that week. Regular week and weekend hours will go into effect as of Sunday, January 11, 2026. In the times when the Switchboard is not open, callers will hear a recorded message as detailed above.
Administrative Offices
The following schedule will be in effect for these administrative offices during the shutdown period:
- The following offices will be closed but will be checking and responding to voice mail: Office of the President, Office of Academic Affairs, Gartner Welcome Center, Center for Global Education, Center for Public Service and Civic Engagement, Office of the Registrar, and Office of Human Resources.
- The Office of University Advancement will have coverage in Beeghly Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, December 26, Monday, December 29, and Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The contact number for Advancement is (330) 823-2286.
- The Office of Business Affairs will have personnel working from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, December 26, Monday, December 29, and Tuesday, December 30, 2024, in order to open mail and have the cashier’s window open. The contact number for Business Affairs is (330) 823-6554.
- U.S. Mail will be picked up at the Post Office on December 26 and 29. Mail will be sorted and delivered to the Business Office, Admissions Office, and the Office of University Advancement before 12:00 noon on each of these days. On December 31, the mail room staff will deliver to Advancement and the Business Office. All other mail and packages will be held, unless directed otherwise, until normal mail service resumes on January 5, 2026.

The Office of Information Technology will have one person in the office throughout this shutdown for daily checks on servers.
HPCC
- The Office of Student Affairs will not have staff working at designated times throughout the shutdown period but will have 24-hour coverage with on-duty residence life staff. Emergencies should be directed to the RD on duty at cellular number (330) 428-3500. Key student affairs staff will be checking and responding to voice mail over the shutdown.
- The HPCC will be open Monday through Friday, December 15-19, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday, December 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Returning in January, the HPCC will be open Monday, January 5, 2026. There will be limited hours on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular hours will resume on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day.
- The Kresge Dining Hall will be closed after dinner on Thursday, December 11 through Saturday, January 10, 2026, reopening for dinner on Sunday, January 11, 2025.
- B&B Cafe will be open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Monday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 23. It will be closed beginning Wednesday, December 24, 2025, until Monday, January 5, 2026. The B&B will be open January 5 through January 9, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with normal hours resuming on Monday, January 12, 2026.
- The Barnes & Noble University Store will be open Monday through Friday, December 15 through December 19, 2025, and Monday, December 22, and Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be closed for the break from Wednesday, December 24, 2025, through January 4, 2026. It will reopen Monday, January 5, 2026. The University Store will coordinate with UPS for deliveries throughout the holiday period.
Physical Plant
On Friday, December 26, Monday, December 29, and Tuesday, December 30, 2025 the Physical Plant will have a skeleton staff on site, with at least one staff member from each department (housekeeping, grounds, maintenance/fleet) working from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For the supervisor on duty, please contact campus security, if needed. Physical Plant employees will be assigned to various tasks to maintain an overall presence on campus.
Student Health Center
The Student Health Center will close at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, and will resume normal hours on Monday, January 12, 2026. Phone messages will be checked throughout the holiday break. In the event of an illness or injury, the following urgent cares are available:
