Career Goals
I choose music education because I was inspired at a young age to teach. My whole family loves music and music has been a huge part of my life overall. When it came to deciding what I wanted to teach, music became the clear answer. I’ve had the opportunity to observe other teachers and it has been so fun teaching kids, learning how to teach, seeing different schools -- how they operate, and of course playing music! My ultimate career goal is to be a band director at an HBCU of somewhere in the country, or direct a huge high school marching band.
Advice for Prospective Students
The advice I'd give to prospective students is to look at schools where you’d thrive in and where you’d fit in like a puzzle piece. Look for the right education and comfortability first before you look for everything else.
Choosing Mount Union
I learnt about Mount Union because I had a baseball tournament on campus prior to enrolling as a student. I also attended band camp several times on campus. But, I've made connections across campus like with Jeff Neitzke, Doug Henry, Amy Haines, as well as my teammates and members of the band.
