Career Readiness
Mount Union’s entrepreneurship program played a pivotal role in shaping my career. I had the opportunity to pitch an idea at Raider Tank with my now business partner Josh, and that experience led to a grant that allowed us to stay in Alliance and build a business over the summer. Little did I know then that 12 years later, I would still be running that same business. Beyond academics, running track and cross-country helped me develop time management skills, discipline, and resilience. Those lessons — pushing through challenges, staying focused, and balancing multiple priorities — have been invaluable as a business owner. Looking back, I’m so thankful for how Mount Union helped prepare me for this path.
Staying Connected to UMU
I stay connected to Mount Union in a few ways. I follow and engage with Mount on social media, which is a great way to keep up with what’s happening on campus. I also stay in touch with many of the friends I made during my time there — we try to visit and catch up whenever we can. I love Mount Union because it gave me opportunities and experiences that truly shaped who I am today. I was able to start a business, continue competing in athletics, and make friendships that have lasted long after graduation. Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to work directly with Mount Union through my business. We’ve been producing video content for the university, and I’m so grateful to their marketing team for trusting us with that work. I always enjoy checking in to see how the community continues to grow and thrive at Mount Union.
Life as a Business Owner
What I love most about my job is helping people turn their ideas into reality. Whether it’s producing a polished commercial that exceeds a company’s expectations, crafting a wedding video that a couple can cherish forever, or helping a client flawlessly live stream an important event — it’s incredibly rewarding to make those moments happen. Especially in live streaming, many of our clients aren’t deeply familiar with the technical side. It feels great to step in, handle the complexities, and leave them saying, “That was the smoothest event we’ve ever had.” Making video and live events accessible, easy, and stress-free for people is one of the best parts of what I do. One of my biggest career goals is to give back — to share the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the years with others. Whether it’s speaking to classes, mentoring students, or presenting to video groups, I genuinely enjoy teaching and helping others learn. I’d love to be in a position where I can pass along what I’ve learned, so the next generation is even more prepared to chase their dreams. If I can help people avoid some of the mistakes I’ve made and give them a clearer path forward, that would be incredibly fulfilling.
