Tuition Exchange

Tuition Exchange

The University of Mount Union participates in two separate Tuition Exchange programs. For a complete list of participating institutions, visit Tuition Exchange and Tuition Exchange CIC.

New First-Time and Transfer Students

The Tuition Exchange EZ Application for students applying to Mount Union for the fall semester is due no later than January 1. Your parent should work with the Tuition Exchange Liaison at the institution where they are employed. Visit tuitionexchange.org/find-a-telo to find your liaison officer.

TE and CIC decisions will be released by February 1. The number of seats offered is limited and varies each year. In addition, to be considered for TE or CIC, you must:

  • Be admitted to Mount Union.
  • File a FAFSA and submit it to Mount Union.

  • Information for Current Mount Union Employees
Eligible Mount Union faculty and administrative staff members whose dependent children are interested in attending another accredited institution of higher education may apply for both programs. Mount Union faculty and administrative staff must complete the Tuition Exchange EZ Application for both programs by October 1 of the student’s senior year. Tuition exchange is limited to one dependent per faculty or administrative staff member. Late applications will be accepted, but may decrease the likelihood of acceptance into the Tuition Exchange Program.

Tuition exchange is very competitive. For example, a school might have only five spots but may receive up to 100 applications. It is not an automatic exchange but rather a competitive process, with the importing school deciding whom to take and whom not to take.

Eligible dependents of a faculty or administrative staff member cannot receive benefits under more than one tuition exchange program through Mount Union. For example, your dependent is not eligible to receive a baccalaureate degree through tuition remission at the University of Mount Union, through the tuition exchange program, and through traditional financial aid. As stated above, once a baccalaureate degree is conferred upon an eligible dependent, that dependent ceases to be eligible for other forms of the tuition benefit.

This information can also be found in the Employment Policy Handbook.

  • Information for Non-Mount Union Employees
Tuition exchange is a scholarship opportunity for dependent students of eligible employees at member colleges and universities. Mount Union participates in two Tuition Exchange Programs: the Tuition Exchange Program (TEP) and the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC). Information about both programs can be found at tuitionexchange.org. Tuition Exchange scholarships are available to first-year and transfer applicants. A limited number of scholarships are available and are awarded to the strongest candidates. Mount Union’s scholarship is equal to full tuition. It is renewed for up to eight semesters.

The Tuition Exchange EZ Application is due by January 1 for the upcoming fall semester. Tuition Exchange and CIC decisions will be made by February 1. The number of available scholarships offered varies from year to year. Students who miss the January 1 deadline will be placed at the end of the waitlist. In order to be considered for the Tuition Exchange Program, the following must be completed by January 1:

Students who are offered Tuition Exchange or CIC will be notified by February 1. Students who are placed on the waitlist will also be notified by February 1.
