Advice to Prospective Students
Choose what feels right. If you are not in love at the beginning, it is probably not the school for you. Also, research your schools; different colleges and universities provide many opportunities, so make sure you know what you are getting yourself into and that the college or university you're looking at has what you need and want.
Preparing to Become a Lawyer
My ultimate career goal is to become a lawyer. I have had the opportunity to participate in a campus wide campaign to help increase the quality of clean water worldwide. My favorite experience has been writing pleadings in my POL 200 class as it gives me a glimpse into what my job will be like. UMU is preparing me for that career by offering the legal studies minor, which will help in future endeavors as well as global education opportunities like traveling abroad.
Affordability in College
The biggest obstacle that I have faced was being able to afford college. I knew since my sophomore year of high school that by working hard, I would maybe be able to lessen the financial burden a little. I studied a lot, took a lot of AP and CCP classes, and tried my best to make myself stand out. Eventually all the hard work paid off though! I was lucky enough to receive the presidential scholarship which covers my full tuition at Mount Union, as well as tuition for any study abroad I might choose. By Mount Union providing the presidential scholarship it has made college a lot more affordable than it could have been without it.
