Becoming a Nurse

I chose nursing because I have always wanted to have a lasting impact on other people. I have always taken interest in all things medical, and thought nursing would fit both of what I wanted. It challenges me which is what I look for in school as well as the hands on activities we get to experience, which I enjoy. I love the hands-on experiences we get to have in our labs and simulation rooms; getting to work on mannequins that simulate real life people is something that only makes us better nurses. Ultimately, I will graduate with my BSN RN and then hopefully further my education to become a nurse educator.

Overcoming Obstacles

I have held myself to a high standard and coming to college I had to realize you can't do everything right. You're not always going to get the highest grade or do something right on the first try. It was very hard for me to comprehend at first but as my first year went on I realized that trying my best was all I can do.

Advice to Incoming Students

Don't underestimate small colleges! I never thought I would like a small college but I found it was perfect for my learning styles and social activities. The environment has felt like home since I stepped on campus. The faculty is so welcoming and genuine, they put everything into making sure you succeed. The class sizes are perfect for creating great relationships with your peers and professors.
