Inspiring Faculty Member

Mrs. Amy Haines has been the most influential person in my music career during my time at Mount. When she stepped into her role as the music education instructor she led with dedication and a student first mindset. she immediately began pushing me to grow both as a musician and a leader. Shortly after she became the advisor of OCMEA, I was elected president, and her guidance played a major role in shaping my confidence and ability to lead. She consistently challenged me to be better, offering support while also holding me to high standards. Because of her encouragement and belief in my potential, I’ve been able to develop not only my musical skills but also my leadership and professionalism.

Gaining Experience as a Teacher

I have had the privilege of teaching third grade general music at Regina Coeli and the middle and high school band(s) at West Branch Local Schools. These two experiences have been my favorite because I got to gain hands-on skills with the students and apply what I've learned. Being able to finally do the thing I have been preparing for the last three years is the most amazing thing because I get to make music with students and teach them about the wonders of music.

Choosing Mount Union

I learned about Mount Union because one of my band teachers graduated from here and told me about her experience. When it came time to looking for a university to go to, She further discussed her collegiate experience and how she greatly benefitted from it. Once I applied to all the schools I looked at, the largest factor that I took into consideration was that at Mount Union I can be seen; at Mount Union I have the opportunity to be in small class sizes, build personal connections with my professors, learn from the best of the best, and the tuition cost.
