Students and staff posing with homemade pastaBringing together members of the campus community through food, the University of Mount Union recently began its “Around the Campus Table” cooking series with the help of AVI Foodsystems.

An idea from Emily Borroni ’25, AI support specialist at Mount Union, the first event took place in September, with attendees learning how to make their own pasta. Under the guidance of AVI chefs, students and staff learned how to make their own linguini or ricotta gnocchi from scratch.

The event was also supported by Shawnta Forester, director of student engagement, Tara Canestraro, executive assistant to the president, Mark Black, chief organizational impact officer and senior Title IX administrator and Andrew Boothe, associate organizational impact officer and Title IX administrator.

The next event in the “Around the Campus Table” is slated for November, with soul food on the menu. Members of the campus community who are interested in participating can reach out to Borroni with more information.
