June 04, 2021

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Seniors in the Civil Engineering Capstone course taught by Dr. Xi Wang, assistant professor of engineering at the University of Mount Union, recently designed and constructed timber bridges in the south-western area of the Brumbaugh Woods Trail at the Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center.

Utilizing the classroom knowledge gained throughout their time at Mount Union, these students were able to put hands-on learning into action, renovating a high-traffic area in the community.

Senior students involved in the project included: Claudia Harris, Evan Eifert, Ryan Westrick, Cody Fitzwater, Corey White, and Carson Davis.

Mount Union’s ABET-accredited program in civil engineering boasts a 100% placement rate in industry or graduate school upon graduation, according to class of 2019 data.
