Mount Union Entrepreneurship Receives $10K Grant Honoring Late Faculty Member
April 17, 2026ALLIANCE — On Thursday, April 16, the University of Mount Union’s entrepreneurial studies program received a generous $10,000 grant from the Burton D. Morgan Foundation in honor of the late Paulette Kachilla, lecturer of political science.

The grant aims to support students’ entrepreneurial ideas through Mount Union’s annual Raider Tank event, where winning students receive funding to further execute their initiatives. Raider Tank and the entrepreneurial studies program are led by Kachilla’s husband, Michael Kachilla, associate professor of management.
“Paulette loved Raider Tank as much as I did,” said an emotional Michael Kachilla at the event recognizing the grant, organized by Mount Union’s American Marketing Association chapter. Dozens of current and former faculty and staff members, students and alumni were in attendance to honor Paulette. “To see all the students and friends out here in support means so much.”

Presenting the check to recognize the gift were entrepreneurship students Maddie May ‘27 and Ryan Beauregard ’26. The entrepreneurial studies program is located in Mount Union’s School of Business.
