Mount Union Jazz Band and Jazz Combo to Present Concert

The University of Mount Union Jazz Band, under the direction of Jeff Neitzke, and the Jazz Combo, under the direction of Dean Newton will present a concert on November 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Brush Performance Hall in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts. 

The group will play selections from composers including Dean Sorenson, Vernon Duke, Fred Stride, Hank LevySammy Cahn, Freddie Hubbard and Thelonious Monk. 

Students performing as part of the Jazz ensemble include music education major Joss Bowling of Middlefield, Ohio, trombone; freshman Thomas Bradshaw of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, percussion; computer science and Japanese major Zach Brown of Port Washington, Ohio, guitar; geology major Brandon Duktig of North Ridgeville, Ohio, alto sax; Spanish major James Hach of Canton, Ohio, trombone;  freshman Alyssa Helmick of Newton Falls, Ohio, bass; music education major Raelene Jones of Bedford, Ohio, trumpet; English major Emma Kilbreath of Canfield, Ohio, percussion; music education major Micahla Livesay of Robertsville, Ohio, baritone sax; freshman Abigail McElroy of Flushing, Ohio, alto sax; neuroscience major Mickey McIntyre of Warren, Ohio, percussion; writing major Morgan McIvor Bowser of Chesterland, Ohio, alto sax; music performance major Patrick McKitrick of Steubenville, Ohio, piano; freshman Jordan Minns of Crestline, Ohio, tenor sax; neuroscience major Mitch Morris of Hudson, trombone; computer science major Kurt Neimayer of Scio, Ohio, tenor sax; freshman Katie Norton of North Canton, Ohio, trombone; music education major Ben Pickard of Austinburg, Ohio, trumpet; freshman Adrian Sherer of Canton, Ohio, alto sax; early childhood education and music major Kaila Skidmore of Bloomingdale, Ohio, trumpet; freshman Harley Smith of East Liverpool, Ohio, trumpet;  music major Alexandra Tilton of Canton, Ohio, tenor sax and freshman Rachel Vaughan of Minerva, Ohio, trumpet.  

Students performing in the Jazz Combo are computer science and Japanese major Zach Brown of Port Washington, Ohio, trumpet and guitar; mechanical engineering major Connor Johnson of Solon, Ohio, double bass; English major Emma Kilbreath of Canfield, Ohio, percussion; and biochemistry major Hannah Zuppe of Alliance, Ohio, guitar.
