September 13, 2021

ALLIANCE, Ohio — For the second consecutive year, the University of Mount Union was ranked 10th among Midwest Regional Colleges in U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 Best Colleges rankings. This was Mount Union’s 31st year in a row to be recognized as a top college by the outlet.

The Midwest Regional category includes institutions from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The institution was also ranked 17th for Best Value in the region and sixth in the state of Ohio. This ranking takes into account the ratio of quality to price, the percentage of undergraduates that receive need-based aid and the total scholarship/need-based aid received by students.

Mount Union was also once again ranked as a Top Performer on Social Mobility, which was introduced by U.S. News and World Report as part of its 2020 rankings. The ranking measures how well schools graduated students who received federal Pell Grants.

Mount Union’s tuition is 11% below the average cost of similar institutions. About 98% of undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid, and nearly 86% receive need-based aid. The average aid package of $27,454 demonstrates Mount Union’s commitment to affordability. The University offers more than $34.5 million in grants and scholarships each year.

“We are honored to have continued recognition by U.S. News and World Report for our commitment to making the Mount Union experience affordable and accessible to students of all backgrounds,” said Mount Union President Tom Botzman. “It is truly a testament to the efforts of all in our campus community who are committed to preparing students for our mission of fulfilling lives, meaningful work, and responsible citizenship.”

Along with being named in U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 listing, the University of Mount Union has been cited in numerous other national rankings. The University was in the top 30 for best baccalaureate colleges and a “Best Bang for the Buck” school by Washington Monthly for 2021. Mount Union has also been featured in the Princeton Review’s Guide to Green Colleges for seven consecutive years. Other citations have been garnered from College Factual, Niche, Educate to Career, STARS, Arbor Day Foundation and Sierra Club.
