September 08, 2026
VIENNA, Austria — Discovering new technologies in the field of medical education, Dr. Kanika Bansal, assistant professor in the University of Mount Union’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, had the opportunity to attend the Interprofessional Health Education Conference by the Association of Medical Education in Vienna, Austria, in August.
At the conference, Bansal collaborated with peer experts from around the world while learning about the ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education and developing AI-based educational modules. She also brought back tools for creating custom applications for assessment and interactive learning, as well as interactive patient cases and personas for student use.
“Over the next couple of months, I plan to compile information and explore these tools in greater depth to better understand their utility and feasibility,” Bansal said. “I am also excited to incorporate some of these technologies and skills into my own teaching and pedagogy moving forward.”
