Scanlon to Discuss Keeping Resolutions at "UMU Experts: Lunch Series" January 23

Dr. Kelsey ScanlonALLIANCE, Ohio – Many people ring in the New Year by setting resolutions to achieve over the next 12 months, but many know the struggle of keeping the resolutions after the first few weeks of the year. Is there a way for people to keep on track and achieve the goals they set for themselves?

Dr. Kelsey Scanlon, assistant professor of exercise science at the University of Mount Union, will be presenting the final installment of the 2017-2018 UMU Experts: Lunch Series on Tuesday, January 23 at noon in the Newbold room in Hoover-Price Campus Center.

Her discussion, titled, “2018: The Year of Resolution Realization” will explain the best ways to approach New Year’s Resolutions in order to accomplish them.

Scanlon earned a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science in from Mount Union in 2011 and a Master of Science degree in exercise physiology from Kent State University in 2013. In August of 2017, she earned her doctorate in exercise physiology from Kent State.

Her position at Mount Union allows her to teach courses within exercise science and work as the coordinator of the Healthy Campus Initiative for the University. As the employee wellness program director, she organizes events to keep the campus community moving, informed on health-related topics, and knowledgeable of their individual biometric data. This involvement has led to state-wide presentations on wellness programing and continued engagement. 

Scanlon has received numerous awards and recognitions from various institutions including the Honorary Faculty Recognition from Mount Union in April 2017, and the Emeriti Faculty Scholarship and Dean’s Scholarship from Kent State in May of 2016.
