October 05, 2018

ALLIANCE, Ohio – A University of Mount Union student and an alumnus, both of whom have held positions at 91.1 WRMU FM, secured the station two spots as a national finalist in the 2018 College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) National Student Production Awards. WRMU is part of Raider Student Media (RSM).

The WRMU students are national finalists in the categories of Best Station Imaging and Best Documentary/Public Affairs Video.

Winners for each category will be announced and presented their awards at the annual Awards Ceremony to be held at the National Student Electronic Media Convention on October 25-27th in Seattle, Washington.

Logan McGee ‘20, an integrated media major of East Canton, Ohio, submitted a project that earned himself and WRMU a national finalist spot in the category of Best Station Imaging. McGee completed the project as part of his position as WRMU promotions director. The project showcased Mount Union Alumni.

“I was elated to find out I was a finalist,” said McGee. “CBI is a national organization for college broadcasters, so being a finalist meant we beat out hundreds of other submissions and dozens of colleges across the US.”

Tyler Longstreth ’18 represented WRMU by earning a national finalist spot in the category of Best Documentary/Public Affairs Video for his submission “Legacy of the Land: Nature Center Documentary.” Longstreth was the editor of the student newspaper, The Dynamo at the time of the project’s submission.
