As the first professional doctorate offered in the history of Mount Union, we, as a program, take great pride in the steps we have taken to get where we are today. Thus, we make certain our doctoral students of Physical Therapy experience their professional education in ways they call exceptional, successful, and life changing.
Having graduated our inaugural class in 2019, we could not be prouder of our Mount Union DPT graduates. Watching them step into their post-graduate careers with residencies, fellowships, certifications, program directorships, and others, we applaud them for their creativity, competency, forward thinking, committed energy, and patient skills.
As our program enters its fifth year, we take great pride in members of our faculty and staff, each of whom demonstrate to our students their certain commitment to excellence, warmth, and welcome. We understand the challenges that accompany the quest of being among the best in our field and in chasing the dreams that brought each of us - students, faculty, and staff – here to Mount Union.
Mount Union’s DPT program has a commitment to small class sizes, assuring individual attention and ready mentorship that can foster mutually desired learning outcomes. As we get to know our students, we take delight in their steady transformation and integration of diverse personal traits and universal physical therapy skill sets. Through expertly taught content and progressive clinical experiences, we create pathways on which each student can pursue and achieve what is their version of a well-rounded, self-directed, and compassionate young professional equipped to both reach out to and rehabilitate their patients’ lives.
Mount Union's physical therapy curriculum is built on a firm foundation of basic sciences, threaded with real-world, psycho-social-ethical rationale, blended with inter-professional perspectives, adherent to patient and family centered philosophies, and immersed in innovative pedagogy that blends traditional educational styles with problem-based learning. Our hybrid coursework, clinical experiences, and research classes enable students to honor their own styles of learning and problem solving with active engagement.
