ALLIANCE, Ohio – Jill Grove has been named spirit squads advisor at the University of Mount Union. In her role, she will coordinate the dance team, cheer team, mascot, competition dance team and competition cheer team.
Grove has been the Mount Union cheerleading coach since July 2017 and has been the head cheerleading competition coach at Salem High school since 2015. She graduated from Youngstown State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in respiratory care. While in college, Grove was a four-year letterman and a co-captain of the cheer squad.
Mount Union recently announced the addition of competitive cheer and dance programs. The teams will begin practicing in the fall of 2018 and will plan to start competition in the spring of 2019. Mount Union will be able to offer talent-based scholarships for qualified students who will join the spirit squad since competitive cheer and dance are not NCAA sports.
