Mount Union Civil Engineering Students Gain Industry Experience

December 21, 2021

ALLIANCE, Ohio — Members of the University of Mount Union’s Civil Engineering Club participated in several unique hands-on experiences with industry leaders this fall.

Some of the opportunities included visiting an Ohio Department of Transportation roundabout jobsite, a résumé and mock interview workshop with members of the American Society of Civil Engineers and hearing from guest speakers who are at the forefront of the design and construction specialties.

“We are getting to network and see the industry in action,” said Elise Frueh ’22, of Nashport, Ohio, who serves as president of the club. “I have enjoyed meeting new people and learning about their experiences in civil engineering.”

“Students have great opportunities to network and communicate with the industry, which is equally important as knowledge they learn in class,” said Dr. Xi Wang, assistant professor of civil engineering at Mount Union.
