ALLIANCE, Ohio - For the 28th consecutive year, the University of Mount Union has been recognized as a top college by U.S. News and World Report.

Mount Union was ranked seventh among Midwest Regional Colleges in U.S. News and World Report’s 2019 Best Colleges rankings, which is up four spots from the previous year. The Midwest Regional category includes institutions from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The institution was also ranked fifth for Best Value, which takes into account the ratio of quality to price, the percentage of undergraduates that receive need-based aid, and the total scholarship/need-based aid received by students.

In response to the rankings, Mount Union president Dick Merriman stated that, “Mount Union is excelling at creating great value for the students and families we serve. We are proud that our work to limit costs while providing exceptional opportunities to our students is being recognized.”

Mount Union’s tuition is 11 percent below the average cost of similar institutions. About 99 percent of undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid, and nearly 87 percent receive need-based aid. The average aid package of $26,172 demonstrates Mount Union’s commitment to affordability. The University offers more than $30.2 million in grants and scholarships each year.

In addition to its Best Colleges ranking, Mount Union also earned the ranking of “A+ Schools for B Students” in the Regional Colleges category for the third year in row. Essentially, this ranking recognizes that, regardless of a student’s performance in high school, all Mount Union students benefit from an exceptional educational experience. This experience has proven results, as 96 percent of graduates throughout the course of the past decade have reported outstanding career and graduate school success.
