Additional Mount Union Courses Earn National Certification for Quality in Online Learning

April 25, 2024

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland — Following the four courses that earned certification in spring 2023, three additional online courses at the University of Mount Union have been nationally certified by Quality Matters (QM).

To receive this recognition, a course earns the QM Certification Mark once it meets QM Rubric Standards at the 85% threshold or better and meets all Essential Standards. All three Mount Union courses scored 100% to earn the certification

“This achievement shows UMU's commitment to quality education,” said Dr. Stephen Craig, director of digital learning at Mount Union. “We plan to have many more courses and programs QM-certified in the future!”

The three new courses that earned QM certification were:

  • College Algebra, taught by Doug Henry, director of the math learning center
  • Young Adult Literature, taught by Amy Laubscher, director of the University’s Integrative Core program
  • Leadership for Organizations, taught by Dr. Wendy Ziems-Muller, director of Mount Union’s online Master of Business Administration program

These three courses join Introduction to Professional Writing, Marketing Management, Foundations of Leadership and Anatomy and Physiology I as QM-certified courses in the Mount Union curriculum.
