Mount Union Adds In-Demand Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate Program
August 20, 2025ALLIANCE — To continue meeting the needs of healthcare leaders, the University of Mount Union has announced the addition of a family nurse practitioner (FNP) post-graduate certificate to its academic offerings.
The FNP certificate is designed for registered and advanced practice nurses who already hold a graduate nursing degree and seek a streamlined pathway to becoming a nurse practitioner. This unique program can be completed in less than two years, making it a more flexible and cost-effective option for nurses seeking dynamic career growth.
The FNP certificate program resides in Mount Union’s newly minted School of Nursing. The name change from Department of Nursing reflects the University’s strong foundation and strategic growth in the nursing field. The FNP certificate joins the School’s established Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), accelerated second-degree BSN, 36-month fast track traditional BSN and Master of Science in Nursing programs.
“We are very excited to offer a post-graduate FNP certificate option for professional nurses ready to advance in the field or change their area of speciality,” said Dr. Betty Allen, director of Mount Union’s School of Nursing. “These students will benefit from our supportive environment and knowledgeable faculty while offering a curriculum that is flexible to the demanding schedules of working nurses.”
Mount Union’s FNP certificate will enroll its first cohort in January 2026. Learn more, reserve a spot, and register for pre-requisite courses by visiting mountunion.edu/fnp-certificate. Discover all of Mount Union’s nursing offerings by visiting mountunion.edu/school-of-nursing.
