Mount Union Nursing Program Named Best in Ohio by Nursing Schools Almanac

November 17, 2021

ALLIANCE, Ohio — The University of Mount Union’s direct-entry Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program was recently ranked as the best prelicensure BSN program in Ohio for 2021 by Nursing Schools Almanac.

Mount Union’s prelicensure BSN program was ranked number one out of 44 institutions in Ohio for 2021 and boasts a 98.9% first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

For its methodology, Nursing Schools Almanac’s website states it analyzed, “…an extensive database of student performance on the NCLEX-RN.” The affiliate then used that database to calculate each program’s pass rate among first-time test-takers.

“This achievement is a credit to our dedicated nursing students and passionate nursing faculty. To have the highest pass rates in the State of Ohio throughout the history of our Nursing Program and amongst the COVID-19 Pandemic is nothing short of extraordinary,” said Dr. Tim Meyers, professor and chair of Mount Union’s Department of Nursing. “Add in our 92% program retention rates and I am speechless. The encouragement and guidance of our support staff, physical plant employees, and our higher administration is to be credited for keeping our students in the classrooms, labs, and clinicals which has been instrumental in continued face-to-face contact and the family feel to our nursing program. I remain truly blessed to be a member of an amazing faculty at the University of Mount Union.”

Mount Union also offers a post-baccalaureate accelerated BSN for adult learners seeking a career change.

Mount Union’s Department of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN).
