Mount Union’s Model UN Earns Four Awards at National Conference

CHICAGO, Illinois — The University of Mount Union's Model United Nations team had an impressive showing at the American Model United Nations Conference in Chicago on November 22-25, bringing home four Best Delegation Awards.

The team represented the Russian Federation across eight committees and the International Court of Justice, competing against over 1023 students from 67 different schools across the country.

Mount Union students Joel Greenly and Liberty Danielle Kinnunen won Best Delegation in the General Assembly Third Committee, while Luke Wagner and Grace Bratko earned the honor in the Contemporary Security Council.

Evan Fisher and Jack Koontz took the award in the Historical Security Council (1994). Zach Lenart won Best Delegation in the International Court of Justice and was also elected president of the body, a significant honor that recognized his performance and leadership throughout the conference.

Founded in 1990, the American Model United Nations conference is one of the most respected Model UN competitions in the United States. Over the four-day conference, Mount Union's delegates researched their country's positions on complex issues, built coalitions with other delegations, and negotiated resolutions on topics ranging from international security to human rights.
