“This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exemplary musicianship and contributions to the field of music education, such as volunteering, work experience, and publications,” said Dr. Elaine Anderson, professor of music.

Moreno stated that this achievement represents his growth as a musician and student, as well as his dedication to his career as a teacher. In addition, Moreno is grateful for the support of the faculty in the Department of Performing Arts and for the support of his fraternity brothers.

“It’s not just a personal achievement; it reflects the support and guidance I’ve received from mentors like Professor Haines, who has been the most influential person in my music career, leading with dedication,” said Moreno.

Garnering teaching experience in local school districts like West Branch, Moreno wants to continue inspiring students through his love for music, just as his professors and mentors have done.

“This award means that someone from a small DIII school can make just as much impact as someone from a DI program, and that anything is possible with the right mentors and grit,” said Moreno.
