175th Anniversary | Athletics

Athletics have played an integral role in Mount Union's history, and will continue to do so into its future. By the 1890s — merely a few decades after Mount Union's founding — football, baseball, and basketball were all regularly played on campus. Since those early days, Mount Union athletic teams have won 17 national championships, 72 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular season championships, and 175 OAC conference tournament championships.

Today, campus is currently 41% student-athletes who participate in at least one of 24 NCAA Division III teams, thus illustrating the presence of athletics remaining a constant at Mount Union.

Being a student-athlete at Mount Union was, (and continues to be) one of the more rewarding experiences of my life. To this day I have former teammates that are still close friends, and coaches/faculty who continue to be mentors. At Mount we learned how to be champions not only in our dedicated sports, but also in the game of life! Congratulations to all of the athletes who have left lasting legacies over the course of the last 175 years, and all the very best to those who will continue to do so in the future. GO RAIDERS!
