Mount Union MSN Program Earns National Accreditation
May 18, 2026WASHINGTON, DC — The University of Mount Union’s School of Nursing is pleased to announce that its Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program has been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Mount Union offers an MSN Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree and a Post-Master’s FNP Certificate, both of which can be completed in less than two years. Both offerings feature online courses and on-campus experiences, designed for working nurses with busy schedules looking to advance their careers.

“Achieving accreditation from CCNE is a significant milestone that affirms the quality and intentional design of our graduate nursing program at the University of Mount Union,” said Betty Allen, director of Mount Union’s School of Nursing. “This recognition reflects our commitment to addressing the need for skilled nurse practitioners in our communities and advancing the nursing profession.”
The MSN program’s accreditation joins Mount Union’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program in being accredited by CCNE. Mount Union’s BSN program, which has been named a top program in Ohio several times since its inception, has produced hundreds of dedicated nurses in various specialties.
With the demand for nurse practitioners expected to grow 35% in the next decade, Mount Union is aiming to fill that need. The next FNP degree cohort begins in August. Those interested in the certificate should plan to meet pre-requisite requirements this fall to start the program in January.
