Alumni Weekend and Homecoming

Welcome home! Alumni from all grad years are welcome back to campus each year for Alumni Weekend and Homecoming.

Mark your calendars to return to campus the weekend of October 19, 2019!

We’ll provide campus, programming, and a fun-filled atmosphere – all we need is you to come home! Call your friends, pack up the family, or jump in the car and ride solo to join us for Alumni Weekend and Homecoming. The Alumni Weekend and Homecoming schedule will offer an array of events and entertainment options to allow you to have some Mount Union fun.

Friday, October 18

  1. Reunions

    Band Reunion | 6 p.m., Cope Music Hall lobby
    Band alumni are invited back to campus to perform with current marching band members during pre-game and for a special feature during halftime on Saturday! Plan to attend the signature Alumni Weekend events, like the Alumni Brunch, as a group and perform at the football game. A special performance by the Mount Union Brass Choir will take place on Sunday! View the schedule for complete details.

    Theatre Reunion
    7 p.m. Gallaher Theatre, Giese Center for the Performing Arts
    All theatre alumni are invited to a special Homecoming reunion Friday evening at 7 p.m.! Come and catch up with old friends and make some new friends! We’ll be sharing snacks, entertainment and get you caught up on the new and exciting things happening in the Department of Theatre here at Mount Union! We can’t wait to see you!

  2. Interfaith Dinner and Discussion

    7 p.m. - Dewald Chapel
    Please join alumni from across disciplines for a dinner and discussion about interfaith issues on campus, hosted by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. There will be opportunity to share your own experiences and interact with current students. RSVP required.

  2. Alumni Brunch and Special Celebration

    9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m., Tent in King Hall parking lot

    This highlight event of Alumni Weekend recognizes milestone reunion classes and legacy families and a short presentation of our Alumni Award recipients. Enjoy a special musical sharing by the Mount Union Band. All alumni and friends are invited to attend this event.

    This year's award winners include:

    Dodie Davis Alumni Service Award: Len '69 and Lynda (Cailor '69) Slack

    McKinley Fellow Award: Mark Himmelein

    Young Alumni Award: Laura Griffin '11

    The event features a sit-down buffet brunch beginning promptly at 9:30 a.m. Please plan to arrive by 9:30 a.m. for your nametag and assigned seating. The cost is $12 for adults (ages 11-adult), $5 for children (ages 4-10), with those under age 3 free. Pre-registration is requested by October 13. Game day/business casual attire is appropriate.

  3. Alumni Weekend Headquarters Tent

    10 a.m. - 2 p.m., tent near the stadium

    Stop by the tent outside the main stadium entrance where you can purchase an Alumni Weekend designed t-shirt for $10, pick up a campus map and walking tour information, enjoy a photo op at the designated Mount Union photo booth, and grab some giveaways!

  4. Multicultural Alumni Tailgate

    10 a.m., Gulling Parking Lot

    Please join us at this family-friendly tailgate before the Capital football game. This event is sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

  5. Young Alumni Tailgate

    10 a.m., Tent in the Gulling Parking Lot
    Those who have graduated in the last 15 years (2004-2019) are welcome to join us for food and giveaways amongst the action in the Gulling parking lot! 

  6. ALL Alumni "Gathering"

    10 a.m., Tent on the SE Corner of the Stadium

    ANY graduate of Mount Union is welcome to join us for food and giveaways along the SE corner of the Stadium.

  7. MUcaw Family FunZone

    11 a.m. - 1:15 p.m., near King and Miller Hall

    Bring the kids to the MUcaw Family FunZone for games, a bounce house, balloon art, ice cream truck, and activities.

    Football Reunion
    11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - outside, Tent outside of the Gulling Training Center
    Former football players and coaches are welcome to join us outside the Gulling Training Center to socialize with each other and to be welcomed by the current coaching staff.

    Athletic Training Reunion

    Black Student Union Reunion
    5:30-9 p.m. - Campus Grounds, Hoover-Price Campus Center
    Come and socialize with former members of the BSU during an evening full of music, conversation, and refreshments. Catch up with fellow members and friends.

    Football Game
    Mount Union vs. Capital
    1:30 p.m. - Mount Union Stadium
    Game tickets are $10 each and are only available at the gate (1.5 hours before kickoff). There will be no advanced ticket sales. All seats are reserved in the stadium (both sides are considered home). OAC lifetime passes are accepted for regular season home games.

  10. Post-Game Gatherings

    These events are open for ALL alumni to attend! Post-Game Gatherings 3:30 p.m. and beyond. Join together to socialize and visit with classmates at the following locations on your own:

    Buffalo Wild Wings, 310 W. State St.

Sunday, October 20

  1. Alumni Worship Service and Brass Choir Performance

    8:30 a.m. rehearsal, 10 a.m., Dewald Chapel

    Join us for a worship service, which will include a special performance by the brass choir and a light reception upon its conclusion.

  2. Kappa Kappa Psi Reunion

    11 a.m., Dewald Chapel
    Brothers of Iota Lambda are welcome to join our chapter in celebrating our 30th birthday and reuniting with one another as we crack open old yearbooks and share our favorite memories! Find us in the Dewald Chapel following the Alumni Worship Service and Brass Choir Performance.

  3. Alumni Baseball Game

    The pre-game warmup will begin at noon and a team picture with alumni will follow at 12:45 p.m.

    Adults - $10, Seniors/Veterans - $8, Free for all students (Pre-k - college)

Alumni Weekend and Homecoming includes many opportunities for photos to be taken of guests on campus and events. These images may be used, without compensation, for promotional purposes in future publications, advertising, web, new media, or other formats. Guests who do not wish to have their photos taken are responsible for alerting the photographer and stepping out of the photo. Guests may also send a written request to alumni@mountunion.edu for the removal of specific photos from University channels.

Alumni Award Recipients 

Alumni Awards: Mount Union's most prestigious honor for alumni.

The following awards are presented at the Alumni Brunch during Alumni Weekend and Homecoming: 
   

ALUMNI SERVICE AWARD (DODIE DAVIS ALUMNI AWARD)

The Alumni Service Award was established in 1942 and is presented in recognition of outstanding achievement in a chosen profession or field and for service to the University or community. The award represents the highest non-academic honor an alumnus/alumna can receive from Mount Union. In 2003, the award was renamed in honor of Dodie Davis ’62 for her 35 years of service and dedication to the institution.

McKINLEY FELLOW AWARD

The McKinley Fellow Award is named for former U.S. President William McKinley, who was a member of the Mount Union Board of Trustees and worked as a friend of the University for many years. This award honors a select group of individuals who have had a significant impact on Mount Union as non-alumni.

YOUNG ALUMNI AWARD

The Young Alumni Award honors and recognizes those who, at very early stages in their chosen careers or callings, exemplify what Mount Union hopes all alumni will strive to achieve upon graduating from Mount Union. The award is given to graduates within the past 15 years of their outstanding support, leadership, and dedication to the University as young alumni.
